We use systematic approaches when evaluating EKG’s (Rate, Rhythm, Axis, Intervals, P wave, QRS complex, ST segment-T wave, Overall interpretation), 12 Leads (I See All Leads), Ultrasounds or when performing medical and trauma assessments (DCAP-BTLS). This helps to ensure we don’t miss a step or a part of an assessment!

We need to do the same when evaluating Fetal Heart Monitoring Tracings. A great mnemonic to use is: Baby Are Definitely Very CuteΒ
